TV ratings: CBS, 'Mentalist' cruise on Tuesday

The advent of summer rerun season didn't slow CBS' drama lineup down very much as it coasted to a ratings win on Tuesday.

CBS averaged a 7.5 rating/13 share for the night, easily beating NBC's 4.3/7 for the top spot. FOX came in third at 3.2/5. ABC snagged fourth with a 2.3/4, and The CW trailed at 1.2/2.

CBS also led among adults 18-49 with a 2.3 rating. NBC took second at 2.1, followed by FOX at 1.9. ABC and The CW tied for fourth at 0.8.

An "NCIS" repeat scored an 8.0/13 for CBS at 8 p.m. The countdown special "TV's Funniest Phrases" drew a 3.8/6 for NBC. A "House" rerun on FOX narrowly beat an hour of "According to Jim" (2.7/4) on ABC for third. The finale of "Reaper" earned a 1.4/2 for The CW.

" The Mentalist," 8.1/13, drew the night's biggest audience for CBS at 9. "TV's Funniest Phrases" improved to 4.8/8 on NBC, topping the 3.6/6 for the premiere of "Mental" on FOX. ABC's miniseries "Diamonds" took fourth. The debut of "Hitched or Ditched" on The CW came in at 1.0/2.

A "Without a Trace" rerun, 6.4/11, completed the CBS sweep at 10 p.m. " Law & Order: SVU" posted a 4.4/7 for NBC, and the conclusion of "Diamonds" drew a 2.2/4 on ABC.
