TV ratings: CBS takes a quiet Sunday

The summer blahs hit Sunday's TV ratings in a big way, with CBS grabbing the biggest overall audience on a soft night and NBC getting a demographic win.

CBS averaged a 4.7 rating/8 share for the night, beating second-place NBC, 3.0/5, by a pretty comfortable margin in households and total viewers (7.19 million to 5.05 million). FOX drew a 2.6/5 to beat out ABC, 2.5/4, for third. The CW could only muster a 0.6/1.

NBC led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 2.0, edging FOX's 1.9. CBS took third with a 1.3, followed by ABC, 1.1, and The CW, 0.3.

CBS got a 5.8/11 from "60 Minutes" to take the lead at 7 p.m. " America's Funniest Home Videos," 3.2/6, put ABC in second. "Dateline" earned a 2.6/5 for NBC, while FOX came in fourth with reruns of "King of the Hill" and " American Dad." The CW went with " Jericho."

" Million Dollar Password," 4.5/8, kept CBS on top at 8. An "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" rerun, 3.1/5, was second in households for ABC, but NBC had more viewers with "Dateline," 2.9/5. FOX stayed in fourth with " The Simpsons," 3.0/5, and "King of the Hill," 2.8/5. The CW aired the movie "Desperately Seeking Susan."

A "Cold Case" repeat, 4.9/8, held the lead for CBS at 9 o'clock. NBC's miniseries "The Last Templar," 3.3/5, narrowly beat FOX's " Family Guy," 3.5/6, and "American Dad," 3.0/5, for second. ABC's "Desperate Housewives" rerun managed only a 1.9/3, but that was still more than enough to top The CW's movie.

" The Unit," 3.7/6, completed the CBS sweep of the night at 10. "The Last Templar" held steady at 3.3/6 for NBC, while a "Brothers & Sisters" repeat on ABC drew a 1.8/3.
