Today, Clooney is known as an award-winning actor, film director, producer and screenwriter. After high school, however, he really wanted to play major league baseball. He tried out with the Cincinnati Reds in 1977, but did not make it past the first round of player cuts. He later attended Northern Kentucky University, majoring in Broadcast Journalism and working a number of odd jobs, including cutting tobacco, before turning to the career favored by his father, Nick, aunt Rosemary Clooney and cousin Miguel Ferrer.
