Fans will get to see more of Vanessa Hudgens after all, but not necessarily more of her skin.
The Disney Channel star will reportedly come back for the highly anticipated "High School Musical 3," despite rumors that she might not after her nude photo scandal. According to Us Weekly, a source close to the negotiations confirms that Hudgens will return with a "substantial increase" in pay.
"Vanessa is locked for the movie," says the loose-lipped source. "She is very happy that the deal is done."
The contract will reportedly be signed within the next week.
In September, nude photos that Hudgens had apparently taken and sent to a friend leaked onto the Internet, which prompted the young star to apologize to her fans in a statement: "I am embarrassed over this situation and regret having ever taken those photos." And even though Disney backed the star, stating, "We hope she's learned a valuable lesson," this didn't stop rumors that Hudgens' "HSM" role would be taken by either Adrienne Bailon or Sabrina Bryan, both members of the Cheetah Girls.
Bryan, who was recently ousted from "Dancing With the Stars," refuted this rumor on Oct. 27. "Vanessa is in control of her own career right now," Bryan told Us. "If she decides not to do 'High School Musical,' I can guarantee you that it will be her deciding that. No one will strip anything away from her."
In the meantime, costars Corbin Bleu, Monique Coleman and Ashley Tisdale are reportedly back, with final negotiations on the way. Zac Efron, Hudgens' leading man on and off screen, is still working on a deal to return.
The movie, which will be a theatrical release, is scheduled to begin shooting in January 2008.Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
