He won't be getting "Footloose," but Zac Efron could explore "The Death and Life of Charlie St. Cloud."
Efron, star of the "High School Musical" movies, is in talks to star in an adaptation of Ben Sherwood's 2005 novel, according to Variety.
The story follows 28-year-old Charlie, who at age 13 crashes a car and accidentally kills his brother Sam. That doesn't stop them, though, from reuniting with Sam for a nightly game of catch at the graveyard where Charlie works. Efron would, presumably, play the title role.
The 21-year-old will co-star later this year in the body-swapping film "17 Again." On March 23, he exercised his script approval option to opt out of a contract for the lead role in a remake of the 1984 dance movie "Footloose."Copyright © 2015, Los Angeles Times
