Orange : 16 in District Chosen to Be Mentor Teachers
After extensive screening, the Orange Unified School District has named 16 instructors as mentor teachers for the remainder of the school year.
The mentor teacher program, designed to encourage instruction excellence through pay incentives, has been championed by the Reagan Administration nationwide and is in full swing throughout California.
Each of the 16 teachers chosen in the Orange district will receive an extra $4,000 in pay.
Applicants were required to propose projects designed for specific district needs. As mentor teachers, they will carry out the projects during the remainder of the school year.
The 16 mentor teachers are Helen Compo, Villa Park Elementary School; Joan Chavez, Handy Elementary School; Jean Clifford, Imperial and Crescent elementary schools; Cheryl Cohen, Lampson Elementary School; Judith Crum, California Elementary School; William Georgesen, Anaheim Hills Elementary School; Mary Heller, Imperial Elementary School.
Also, Lynn Johnson, Santiago Junior High School; Sandra Lundy, Nohl Canyon Elementary School; Carol Mooney, El Rancho Junior High School; Gordon Pitts, Peralta Junior High School; Roy Reimer, Nohl Canyon Elementary School; Timothy Stephens, Villa Park High School; Sharon Tipple, Serrano Elementary School; Paul Todd Jr., Santiago Junior High School, and Susan Ward, Imperial Elementary School.
