A 3-year-old Santa Ana boy was fatally injured Tuesday when the truck in which he was riding was struck head-on by a car traveling against traffic, police said.

Ramon Burrola died of multiple injuries at UCI Medical Center in Orange about 30 minutes after the Santa Ana collision, an Orange County coroner’s official said.

The wrong-way driver, Maggie Lee Faulkner, 64, of Santa Ana, was reported in critical condition at Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, police Sgt. Larry Wagstaff said, adding that she could face a charge of vehicular manslaughter upon her release from the hospital. He said the boy’s father, Robert Navarro, who was driving the truck, was also hospitalized with facial and chest injuries. He was reported in stable condition at Western Medical Center.
