A woman slipped a gun to a male prisoner being escorted to court in Salt Lake City and the man killed an attorney and critically wounded a bailiff but was surrounded by police as he fled the building, authorities said. The inmate, Ronnie Lee Gardner, 23, was shot in the shoulder by a prison guard before he opened fire. Moments later, he was surrounded and captured by police in front of the downtown Metropolitan Hall of Justice, Salt Lake County Sheriff Pete Hayward said.
