CSUN Seeded First in Softball Tournament

Cal State Northridge’s softball team has been seeded first in the Tournament of Champions after two days of round-robin play. The tournament concludes today with a single-elimination round. The final is scheduled for 4 p.m.

In the preliminary round on Tuesday, CSUN won four games without surrendering a run.

Kathy Slaten got 16 strikeouts while beating Buena Vista (Iow) College, 9-0. Buena Vista is the Division III national champion, while CSUN is the Division II champion. Earlier in the day, Shannon Oakes pitched CSUN to a 9-0 over San Francisco State.

Chico State is seeded second, San Francisco State is third and UC Riverside is fourth. The seedings were determined by round-robin wins.
