The recently fired opinion page editor of the student newspaper at Los Angeles Harbor College filed suit in Los Angeles federal court seeking reinstatement. Joe Fields has been the center of controversy for writing a series of articles questioning the historical accuracy of Holocaust accounts that 6 million Jews were slain by the Nazis. He was dismissed from his position Feb. 8 by Joe Granberg, editor-in-chief of the Harbor Hawk, after being seen at a public meeting on campus with Tom Metzger, a former grand dragon of the Ku Klux Klan. The suit filed on Fields’ behalf by the American Civil Liberties Union, claims the dismissal violated Fields’ constitutional rights of free association and expression.
