Gunmen in Peru killed an American Baptist missionary at a home in a Lima suburb, police reported. Thomas Brown, 36, a native of Illinois, had spent the last nine years working in Peru as a pastor of the Baptist Bible Church. Police were still trying to determine a motive for the killing. Local newspapers quoted Brown’s widow, Frances, as saying her husband was shot by four men who seemed to know their way around the couple’s home.
