J. P. Trotter Jr., the first suspect featured on the Los Angeles Police Department’s “Ten Most Wanted” list, was arrested for investigation of murder Tuesday by gang detail detectives.

Trotter, 37, who was taken into custody without a struggle in South Los Angeles, had been the subject of a search since his girlfriend, Stephanie Harris, 26, was found strangled in her Hollywood apartment at 1749 N. Serrano Ave. in December, 1984, Hollywood Division Lt. Russ Moen said.

The arrest was made more than three months after Trotter was featured with nine others on a “Ten Most Wanted” list announced by Police Chief Daryl F. Gates.
