Cambridge, Mass. is rallying around animator Lisa Crafts as she tries to complete “Shout!,” a one-minute cel-animation about the arms race, in time for the first Animation Festival in Hiroshima Aug. 18-22. About $3,000 was raised for the project at a gathering in Harvard Square, Crafts said. “And we still have checks coming in. People seem to want to be a part of this.”

Crafts’ mini-film portrays two arguing world leaders escalating their nuclear threats until they devolve into Godzilla-like monsters, destroying civilization. At the climax, the people of the world turn on the monsters and yell “Enough!” in 20 languages, ending the escalation just before Doomsday. The theme of the Hiroshima festival: “Love and Peace.”
