The Healing Chords of Music

Share

What a responsive chord Susan Golant strummed when she reported on Ann Panofsky (“Using the Healing Quality of Song,” June 23). Not only was my mother hard of hearing, but she suffered a series of small strokes that left her confused most of the time. How to reach this wonderful little lady? One day I tried singing some of the songs I thought were her favorites. It wasn’t long before she was joining me, full voice, even picking up words I’d sloughed over. Her foot was tapping, her hands clapping. We even had some sing-a-longs in that day room. How I hope that Ann Panofsky will lead this crusade of communicating through song and music.
