Compton
Maynard Young, city housing director for the last three years, has resigned to become director of housing production for the Community Development Commission administered by Los Angeles County.
“I’ve been very pleased with Compton,” said Young, whose resignation becomes effective Monday. “It has afforded me an opportunity to do my thing.”
Young, 57, said he was leaving the post for reasons of “professional growth.” He said his major achievements as housing director had been the sale of $59 million in mortgage revenue bonds and securing federal loans and grants for what he called an “aggressive” housing rehabilitation program in the city.
“Now I’ve made my little footprint in the city and I’m very happy I’ve done that,” said Young. A successor has not yet been named, he said.
