Danes’ Chief Rabbi Plans to Meet PLO Official
Denmark’s chief rabbi, Bent Melchior, said Wednesday that he has accepted an invitation to visit a representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization to help build a bridge between Jews and Palestinians.
Melchior, leader of Denmark’s 7,000 Jews, accepted the invitation from Omar Kitmitto, who opened a PLO information office in Copenhagen in May.
“As a Danish Jew I do not feel that I run foreign policy for Israel. I would like to visit Kitmitto--despite the fact that our community has opposed the opening of a PLO office here in Copenhagen,” he said.
