A missing 15-year-old Eagle Rock girl, whose photo had been displayed on grocery bags and milk cartons, has been found in San Jose, living with her junior high school tutor, authorities said Friday.

Acting on a tip from an anonymous caller, San Jose police late Thursday night went to the home of Allan Slaughter, 35, where they found the girl.

Slaughter was arrested and booked at Santa Clara County Jail for investigation of several charges, including sexual abuse and assault.

A co-worker of Slaughter’s at a San Jose hospital phoned the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in Washington, saying she knew where Slaughter and the missing girl lived. According to hot line director Carla Branch, the caller said she recognized the girl’s picture on a poster. But Branch said the tipster “seemed to know more than she was letting on.”

The girl’s mother, Rita LaFlamme, said her daughter was “brainwashed and enticed into leaving” last January by Slaughter, who had been tutoring the ninth-grader.

After the teen-ager’s disappearance, LaFlamme and state Assemblyman Gray Davis (D-Los Angeles), who has taken up the cause of finding missing children, mounted a publicity campaign that featured the girl’s picture on grocery bags, egg and milk cartons and Bay Area buses.

LaFlamme was to leave for San Jose on Friday afternoon to be reunited with her daughter, who was in the care of juvenile authorities.
