A 15-month-old toddler who crawled behind the family car after a shopping trip was critically injured when his grandfather backed the auto over him, deputies said. James Daniel Mendoza of Temple City was brain dead and on life-support machines at Arcadia Methodist Hospital, Deputy Dave Hogan said. Hogan said Delloy Abplanalp had unloaded groceries from the car outside the family’s home in the 4900 block of Baldwin Avenue.
