Motorist Shot After Passing Car on Road
A Wilmington motorist was shot in Thousand Oaks Thursday night, apparently because he angered another driver by passing him, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department said.
Jonathan Saavedra, 24, was treated at Westlake Community Hospital for a gunshot wound in the arm, Sgt. Gary Freeman said.
The incident occurred as Saavedra and Dean Engler of Bellflower traveled westbound on Olsen Road near California 23 about 11 p.m, Freeman said, with Engler driving. At a point where the road narrowed, Engler moved into the left lane, ahead of a light-colored, mid-sized American car.
The driver of the other auto fired two shots into Saavedra’s car, shattering the rear window and injuring Saavedra, according to sheriff’s deputies. There are no suspects, Freeman said.
