Eric Dickerson, the Rams’ brilliant running back who last season piled up 2,105 yards to break O. J. Simpson’s single-season NFL record, said today that he won’t report to training camp until Los Angeles agrees to a three-year contract extension.

Dickerson, who has two years remaining on his present contract, said that he is willing to hold out as long as it takes to reach an agreement but that he hopes for a fast settlement. He said the contract extension should put him in the same class with other top NFL runners, including Washington’s John Riggins, who earns a reported $900,000 a year.
