Local News in Brief : Body Found in Tujunga Canyon Is Identified
A body found in Big Tujunga Canyon north of Sunland has been identified as a Lancaster woman missing since June from a hiking trip, Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department investigators said Monday.
The partly decomposed body of Deborah Ann Miletti, 31, was identified by the county coroner’s office through dental records, investigators said. The cause of death was dehydration and exposure.
Miletti was reported missing to the Sheriff’s Antelope Valley Station on June 12. Her body was found July 19 by firemen clearing brush.
She had been staying with her parents in Sunland, Sgt. Isaac Aguilar said. Her parents told investigators that Miletti had some hiking experience and often talked of walking the 30 miles from Sunland to her former home in Lancaster.
Aguilar said she was not properly dressed or equipped to hike in such mountainous country.
