James Doti Becomes Dean at Chapman College

Share

James Doti, an economics professor and founder of Chapman College’s Center for Economic Research, has been promoted to Dean of the college’s School of Business and Management.

The promotion was announced this week by college president G.T. Smith, who praised Doti’s work as a teacher at the college and as a researcher of economic and business trends. Doti has made a name for himself in Orange County and nationally for his annual Chapman College Economic Forecast, an extensive set of predictions of how the county’s 60 separate economic sectors will perform in the upcoming year. The forecast is based on an econometric model developed by Doti. The model is the only one in the nation used to forecast economic activity within a county.

Doti, a Chapman faculty member since 1974, received his doctorate in economics from the University of Chicago, where he was an Edward Hilman Fellow and a National Science Foundation Fellow. In 1980, Doti was awarded Chapman College’s Distinguished Faculty Award.
