Technical teams from the United States and Vietnam on Wednesday began three days of talks on resolving the issue of Americans still missing from the Vietnam War, the U.S. Embassy said.

The discussions, in Hanoi, were expected to take up a Vietnamese plan to resolve the issue within two years. The plan was presented to an American delegation in Hanoi Aug. 28-29.

The meeting is the fourth regular technical session this year and the third since Vietnam agreed in March to increase the frequency of such meetings from four annually to at least six.

It was not known whether the U.S. team, leaded by Lt. Col. Joe Harvey, will be taken to crash sites or be given remains or information about the nearly 2,500 American MIAs in Indochina.
