The state Department of Insurance warned Los Angeles residents, particularly Latinos, to beware of anyone selling phony auto liability insurance. The alleged non-existent coverage is being sold under the name of Liberty Liability through a firm called Merlo Insurance Agency of Glendale. The agency apparently does not exist, a spokesman for the department said.
