$28,000 GRANT FOR ARTISTS GOES TO LACE
Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE) has received a $28,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) and the Rockefeller Foundation as part of a joint, two-year pilot program that will provide grants to artists or arts groups who work in the interdisciplinary arts.
Seven arts organizations in six states have been selected to receive the grants. Other recipients include arts organizations in Santa Fe, N.M.; New Orleans; Houston; San Francisco; Philadelphia, and Hartford, Conn. The arts organizations will disperse the funds to artists selected by panel.
Renee Levine, director of NEA’s Inter-Arts program, said the grants were developed to allow artists more access to funding. “Some arts councils cannot give money to individuals. Now, an individual can apply directly to an arts organization in their area.”
LACE will be awarding five to seven grants to artists in Southern California. Applications will be available in January.
