On Aid to the Contras in Nicaragua
March 20, 1986 will go down as a day of shame for America’s Congress while it also marks a significant, if cheap, Soviet victory.
Let all the congressmen, Republican and Democratic, who voted against aid to the Nicaraguan freedom fighters be aware that while their action has assured that there will be no more elections in Nicaragua, they themselves will have to face the electoral process at home.
As Nicaragua solidifies into a Soviet base because of their cowardice, let us at least make sure that those responsible have served their last term in elective office.
