Anaheim : Karcher to Head Local Constitution Fund Drive
Carl Karcher has been named to head the fund-raising drive for the California Commission on the Bicentennial of the U.S. Constitution.
Karcher, 69, is the founder and chief executive of Carl Karcher Enterprises, the Anaheim parent company of the Carl’s Jr. fast-food restaurant chain.
The state commission was created by the Legislature in 1984 to organize efforts for the 200th birthday celebration of the U.S. Constitution. The national effort is being led by former U.S. Chief Justice Warren Burger.
According to the California commission, Karcher will recruit “a very special group of 75 to 100 Californians who will contribute $1,787 or more” to the commission’s fund-raising effort. In return for their tax-deductible contribution, these patrons will receive a personalized plaque signed by Gov. George Deukmejian announcing their appointment as a “California Bicentennial Deputy.”
People interested in becoming a bicentennial deputy or seeking information on the 200th anniversary may contact the commission at (213) 328-1787.
