2,166 Foreigners Hit by Kenya Crackdown
From Reuters
NAIROBI, Kenya —
A total of 2,166 foreigners have appeared before Nairobi courts since a crackdown on illegal aliens began throughout Kenya earlier this month, local newspapers reported Saturday.
Police were ordered by President Daniel Arap Moi to root out illegal aliens after 13 Kenyans died when armed bandits attacked a bus in northeast Kenya earlier this month. Those who escaped the bus attack have said the gunmen appeared to be Somalis.
Most of the aliens picked up have been fined and ordered to leave Kenya.
