P.V. Estates : Councilwoman Steps Down

Share

Councilwoman Barbara Culver has officially stepped down from the council seat she has held for seven years to become city clerk.

Culver, 49, announced last month that she would make the move. The previous clerk, Dina Cramer, resigned in the spring. Council members are not paid, but the clerk receives an annual salary of $28,700.

The council has not decided whether to fill the council vacancy by appointment or special election or wait until the next scheduled election in April, 1988.

Culver’s decision to move from the council to the city clerk’s office is not unprecedented. In 1950, Councilman John Alvis resigned from the council to be appointed city clerk, City Manager Gordon Siebert said.
