Local News in Brief : Huntington Beach : Police Identify Woman Found in Field Stabbed
City police identified Beverly Alexandria Holzmiller, 47, of Huntington Beach as the murder victim found in an open field Thursday.
Sgt. William Van Cleve said Holzmiller died of internal bleeding resulting from a stab wound in the chest. He said they had no motive for the murder and no suspects.
An oil-field worker found the body at 12:50 p.m. Thursday and notified police. The victim’s clothes were strewn nearby. Police said the murder apparently occurred in the field, at the southwest corner of Huntington and Alabama streets, and there was evidence of sexual assault.
Van Cleve said that Holzmiller had spoken to a relative in a phone call at 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, but the relative had no idea where she was.
He said Holzmiller was unmarried, worked various jobs and was living temporarily with her mother in Huntington Beach. She did not return there Wednesday night.
She worked in telephone sales and was the mother of three adult children, one daughter and two sons.
