Recycling Cans

Share

The new recycling law is a great example of how not to solve a problem. I saved soft-drink cans after Oct. 1 until I had three large garbage bags full. Then I tried to redeem them.

After 52 miles of driving, in three separate trips which took up three hours of my time, I found a recycling center open at a Giant store. My three bags of cans, which filled the trunk of my car and leaked a gooey mess as I drove, yielded $2.38.

Even if the recycling center was next door, I wouldn’t hassle with three large bags of leaky cans to get $2.38. Starting now, my aluminum cans go where they belong--back into the garbage.
