Maywood : Apartment Request Denied

Share

The Maywood City Council has denied a developer’s request to construct a four-unit apartment building on Prospect Avenue. Roy Moorefield of Bell had requested permission to build four three-bedroom apartments at 6112 Prospect Avenue.

The project, which had the approval of city staff members and the Planning Commission, would have required an exception to the city’s zoning ordinance because the proposed apartments were 626 square feet smaller than the minimum size required for four units.

The apartments also were opposed by about 30 residents of Prospect Avenue who submitted a petition urging council members to abide by the zoning ordinance. Residents also were concerned that the area’s parking and traffic problems would be worsened by the addition of the apartments.
