La Puente : Water Rates to Drop
Suburban Water Systems, which is based in La Puente and serves 63,000 customers in the eastern San Gabriel Valley, Whittier and La Mirada, has lowered its water rates because the federal Tax Reform Act of 1986 reduced its taxes.
The state Public Utilities Commission ordered the company to lower its rates to reflect decreased taxes this year and last year. The rate reductions, averaging about 3.5%, will save customers $623,300 over the next nine months, according to the company.
