A car belonging to a 79-year-old Huntington Beach woman who was reported missing more than a month ago has been found in Oceanside, a police spokeswoman said Friday.

The 1985 Chevrolet Caprice belonging to Evelyn Theresa Hirth, who suffers from Alzheimer’s disease, was found in the parking lot of an Oceanside professional building late Thursday, police spokeswoman Jo Anne Bonkowski said.

Hirth has not been seen since Aug. 26, when she became separated from her 83-year-old husband near Carlsbad. Edward Hirth was found four days after his wife’s disappearance in a Carlsbad motel. Police said he was disoriented and unable to remember the whereabouts of his wife or their car, although he had the car keys.

Bonkowski said investigators declined to say whether any evidence was found in the car. She said the car had been at the parking lot for about two weeks and had been reported to Oceanside police as an abandoned vehicle.

The missing woman is white, 5 feet, 5 inches tall, 160 pounds, with gray hair, brown eyes. She wears prescription glasses. She was last seen wearing a yellow striped dress. Anyone with information about her is asked to call the Huntington Beach Police Department at (714) 960-8811.
