A shadowy Swiss-Italian businessman linked to Middle East arms trafficking was identified by Italian police as the man who was to receive photographs of U.S. hostages from a Lebanese woman arrested in Milan. The man, Aldo Anghessa, was questioned by police after they found the photos and a letter believed to be from a hostage hidden in a false bottom of the woman’s suitcase, authorities said. The woman, Aline Ibrahim Rizkallah, said Anghessa was to be the recipient, but he was later released, and police refused to divulge further details. Anghessa, 44, was arrested last year, after the seizure of a Lebanese cargo ship that police said was carrying drugs and weapons for use by the Mafia and Mideast terrorists, but charges were later dropped.
