ON THE DOCKET

Arts and entertainment reports from The Times, national and international news services and the nation's press

Lavon Muhammad, an ex-legal secretary who calls herself Billie Jean Jackson and claims to be married to Michael Jackson, has pleaded innocent to violating a 2-year-old restraining order instructing her to stay away from the entertainer’s home in Encino. Los Angeles Municipal Court Judge Patricia Gorner Schwartz set bail Tuesday at $5,000 and scheduled a trial for Jan. 10. If convicted, Muhammad could be sentenced to a year in jail and fined $1,000. According to Deputy City Attorney Davis Kestenbaum, Muhammad has harassed Jackson for five years and has been convicted three times of trespassing on Jackson’s property. The woman, who insists she was the inspiration for the singer’s hit song “Billie Jean,” claims Jackson fathered her 6-year-old twins.
