Scripps President to Resign in June
John H. Chandler, president of Scripps College for 13 years, has announced that he will resign June 30 to work on research for a book at Oxford University’s Worcester College.
Howard Brooks, provost at Scripps, will serve as acting president until Chandler’s successor is chosen. A college spokesman said the board of trustees hopes to have the new president by July 1, 1990.
Chandler headed a recently completed campaign that raised about $41 million for the women’s college, which is one of six in the Claremont Colleges group.
