Summer Vacations

Let’s see America this summer instead of going on foreign vacations because:

(1) The tanks and machine guns here are on display in museums, not rolling down neighborhood streets.

(2) We help our local economy by pumping vacation cash into local businesses.

(3) By buying “American” we slow the dollar hemorrhage overseas that messes up our balance of payments in lopsided foreign trade.

(4) Most state governors aren’t bad-mouthing the United States the way most foreign governments are (in and out of the U.N.).

(5) Your vacation funds won’t inflate or deflate overnight because of a screwed-up foreign economic system. And you don’t need to exchange currency.

(6) No customs hassles to worry about.

(7) No 15-hour plane flights or endless red-tape bureaucracies.

(8) You can come home once in a while if you’re in America. That’s a little difficult and expensive if you’re in the middle of Africa or Mongolia.

(9) America is as pretty as anyplace else.

(10) Informed citizens take an interest in their own country.
