Turkey Bans Rushdie Book

ANKARA, Turkey — The government of Turkey on Friday banned Salman Rushdie’s “The Satanic Verses,” a book denounced by Muslims as blasphemous. It gave no reason why the ban came months after controversy erupted elsewhere over the book.
