THE SIDELINES : Oakland Mayor Doubts Raiders Will Come Home to East Bay City
Mayor Lionel Wilson said he is not optimistic about the Raiders returning to Oakland.
The mayor said Thursday that attorneys representing various sides involved in discussions about whether the Raiders might return to Oakland from their current home in Los Angeles are “at issue on a number of other points (which) doesn’t help the situation any.”
Wilson said he is not hopeful that the differences can be resolved.
“It looks like we’re right back where we were in 1981,” he said, referring to the year the Raiders played their last game as an Oakland-based team.
Oakland sued Raiders owner Al Davis after he moved the team to Los Angeles but lost approximately $9-million worth of legal battles trying to force the Raiders to return.
