15 Rebels, 2 Soldiers Die in Philippine Clashes

TACLOBAN, Philippines —
Fifteen communist guerrillas and two soldiers were killed in the central Philippines, police said Thursday.
The 15 rebels were killed in a clash with police and civilian volunteers Wednesday on Leyte Island, a police official said. Seven rebels were wounded.
The two soldiers were killed Thursday by suspected communist guerrillas inside a bus in Carmen, 340 miles south of Manila.
