Burbank Community Development Director William R. Kelly has announced that he will resign next March to pursue other opportunities.

“You go through a career, and there comes a time when you want to do other things,” Kelly said Wednesday.

Kelly, 43, who has been the city’s community development director since February, 1987, said he wants to explore opportunities that will allow him to become a city manager.

He said he has accomplished many of his goals in Burbank, including helping to develop the long-delayed Media City Center mall in downtown Burbank.

Before being appointed, Kelly served three years as director of development services for the city of Brea in Orange County.
