OUTLOOK

The backcourt is solid, with Busalacchi at point guard and Winger at off guard. Reames said Winger is one of the best players the school has had. He averaged only seven points as a sophomore but had a tremendous summer. “We kind of kept him under wraps last season,” Reames said. “But we’re turning him loose this season. He should be a good one.” Busalacchi is a steady playmaker and averaged 10 points. He’s a perfect complement to Winger. “Those two got us to the quarterfinals (of the Southern Section 3-AA playoffs) last season,” Reames said. They’ll need some help to get anywhere in postseason competition. The rest of the team is small and young, although not without ability. The Knights’ junior varsity finished second in league play last season. Gerard and Svicarovich will be counted on for rebounding. Neither is blessed with great size, but both overcome it--Gerard with his leaping ability and Svicarovich with his bulk (235 pounds). “We’re not a very tall team, but I think we have some good athletes,” Reames said. “We have to work with them to make them good basketball players.”
