BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Antelope Valley Wins Conference Opener, 91-62

D. J. Jackson scored a game-high 27 points to lead visiting Antelope Valley College to a 91-62 victory over Victor Valley in a Foothill Conference basketball opener Thursday night.

Chris Walters scored 17 points and Chris DeGlopper added 16 for the Marauders (7-9), who outscored Victor Valley, 53-24, in the second half.

In another men’s game:

Cal Lutheran 88, Keilor (Australia) 45--Simon O’Donnell, who is from Australia, scored a team-high 12 points to lead host Cal Lutheran in an exhibition game.

Andy Beltowski and Shaunte Barnes each had 11 points for Cal Lutheran. Stuart Ewards scored 16 points to lead Keilor. Each of CLU’s 15 players scored.

BOYS

North Hollywood 70, Jordan 44--Sophomore center-forward Damon Ollie scored a game-high 18 points for North Hollywood in a first-round game of the Sherman Oaks CES tournament. Guards DeShawn Harvey and Robert Hill added 12 and 10 points for North Hollywood (14-1), which held a 41-14 lead at halftime.

Holy Martyrs 70, Santa Maria Valley Christian 67--Sako Balian led Holy Martyrs with 28 points and 10 rebounds in the first round of the Valley Christian Academy tournament in Santa Maria.

WOMEN

Ventura 64, Glendale 44--Cori Herman scored 15 points and Venessa Hackett added 12 to lead Ventura in a Western State Conference game at Glendale.

GIRLS

Grant 52, San Fernando 33--Anna Parade scored 14 points and Nicole Baynes had 10 points, 14 rebounds and seven steals to lead host Grant (6-1) in the championship of the L.A. Invitational B Division. Baynes, who averaged 14.3 points and 15 rebounds in three tournament games, was named the tournament’s most valuable player.

Monroe 46, Birmingham 46--Sophomore Dimara Haymond scored a game-high 19 points to lead Monroe (7-5) in a consolation game of the L.A. Invitational tournament.

North Hollywood 45, El Camino Real 26--Tricia Crosby scored a game-high 15 points and added 10 rebounds to lead North Hollywood (7-3) in a consolation game of the L.A. Invitational tournament.

Bell-Jeff 54, Redondo 45--Lori Talley had 13 points and nine assists and Lori Leon added 15 points to lead Bell-Jeff (10-2) in a quarterfinal game of the Bell-Jeff tournament.

Holy Martyrs 63, Santa Maria Valley Christian 45--Aline Altibarmakian had 25 points and 17 rebounds to lead Holy Martyrs to a first-round win in the Valley Christian Academy tournament in Santa Maria.
