TUSTIN : City to Study Using Outside Law Firm

Share

The City Council wants to know if it is cheaper to employ an in-house city attorney or to use an outside law firm.

The council asked for a study that should be completed by its Sept. 19 meeting.

City Manager William A. Huston said city officials will find out how cities comparable in size obtain legal services.

In the meantime, Tustin will continue to be represented by acting City Atty. Lois E. Jeffrey of the Orange-based firm of Rourke, Woodruff & Spradlin. Jeffrey is a partner of James G. Rourke, who resigned in June after serving as Tustin’s city attorney for 34 years.

“I don’t see any reason to switch firms at this point,” Councilwoman Tracy Worley said at the council meeting this week.
