Compiled by Ken Williams

KOCE Channel 50, Orange County’s public television station, raised about $221,000 with its 12-day summer fund drive, topping the total from last summer’s 10-day drive by about $42,000 and seeing an increase in the number of members and donors from 2,664 to 2,706. To what do station officials attribute this success? Four--count ‘em, four--broadcasts of the “Encore! The Three Tenors,” the televised concert with Jose Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti. The drive ended Monday.

Works by some 80 Southern California artists will be on the block for the Orange County Center for Contemporary Art’s fourteenth annual benefit auction, Sept. 18. Works to be sold will be on view at OCCCA from Sept. 14-18, 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission to the auction and party is $15 per person or $25 per couple. Reservations must be made by Sept. 10.
