PORT HUENEME : Man Arrested in 2-Car Accident

An Oxnard man was arrested on suspicion of drunk driving after a car accident that left a woman slightly injured, Port Hueneme police said Thursday.
Francisco Ramirez, 21, also is suspected of driving with a suspended license and hit-and-run driving, authorities said. He was in the Ventura County Jail late Thursday on $10,000 bail.
About 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, police received several calls about a two-car accident near the intersection of Channel Islands Boulevard and Patterson Road. One vehicle had overturned, trapping its driver, Cecilia Lopez of Oxnard. Firefighters freed Lopez, 31, using rescue equipment.
She was treated at St. John’s Regional Medical Center for minor injuries and then released.
Ramirez, who authorities said had been driving the other vehicle, allegedly tried to flee on foot. He was stopped by an off-duty police officer and taken to St. John’s, where he was also treated for minor injuries.
