Of all the problems Billy Payne has had in the first six days of the Olympics, perhaps the most visible have been those with the buses, both for the media and the general public. One issue that seemed easily resolved was a request by reporters being bused from their housing to be dropped directly at the main press center, rather than at a transportation mall for further busing about a mile away.
"I said, 'That's easy. Just open the doors and drop them off,' " Payne said Wednesday. "But the bus drivers refused. They said it was too dangerous and they wouldn't drop anybody off unless it was right at a curb.
"So they just ignored me."
