Mobile Sukkah to Visit Shopping Centers

Share

Chabad of the Conejo will go on the road to Westlake Village to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot, bringing a mobile sukkah, or hut, to the Promenade at Westlake shopping center at 1 p.m. Oct. 19 and then on to the Hughes shopping center at 3 p.m.

“Sukkot is the celebration of the Jewish people’s security in the wilderness when they escaped Egypt,” said Rabbi Moshe Bryski of Chabad. “When we join with the family together and spend our time and meals in the sukkah, it demonstrates our belief and faith that God is with us and watching over us.”

Chabad’s sukkah will be constructed from a metal frame, with tarps for the walls and palm branches for the ceiling. It also will travel to Jewish preschools, day schools and Hebrew schools in the Conejo Valley.
