Deputy City Manager Going to Marysville
After nearly a decade as deputy city manager of Moorpark, Richard Hare has decided to step down and take an administrative post at a small city near Bakersfield.
Hare, 47, has held the job for nine years. During that time, he has acted in almost every position, from city clerk to community development director. Hare has garnered a reputation among colleagues for being reliable, hard-working and good-natured.
“I’m very sorry to see him leave,” said Mayor Pat Hunter, who began working with Hare after taking a seat on the City Council five years ago.
“He immediately impressed me as someone who was detail-oriented and has a vast array of knowledge and expertise,” Hunter said. “Over the last couple years I’ve come to rely on that expertise, especially for government finance.”
Hare departs Sept. 24 to take his post as an administrator for the city of Marysville, a job that begins Oct. 1. “It’s very difficult for me to leave,” Hare said. “I have a lot of friends in the staff and the community, but I’ll maintain ties.”
During the next few months, the city will be searching for candidates in the western United States to fill the position.
